First of all, thank you to Stacy R. Judy for her love and support. She served as my steadfast work-ethic "Jiminy Cricket". She was right: All those extra half-hours really do add up! However, I think I still owe her a few weekends.
Thank you to all of my committee members for their enthusiasm and feedback. In particular, I'd like to thank my chair, Kim Binsted, for introducing me to interactive narrative in 2003 and for then sticking with me through the long slog from 2005 to 2011. Her suggestions and detailed comments throughout the process--particularly on last-minute chapter drafts--were also much appreciated. Thank you too to Scott Robertson, who provided both structure and motivation during the long final push on the Demeter implementation. His pointers on ANOVA statistics helped too.
Thank you to my alpha and beta testers. Besides those already mentioned above, this includes Brett Becker, Kathy Becker, Mom, and Dad.
Also, thank you to all of the participants who completed my study. All participants volunteered a substantial portion of their time, for which I am very grateful. I would not have been able to complete this dissertation without the data they contributed.
Finally, thank you to the Information and Computer Science department at the University of Hawaii--Manoa for providing me with rewarding employment as a teaching assistant for the duration of this project.
